Chicago’s Red Red Meat are getting ready to reissue their albums on vinyl. They’re starting with their final album, 1996′s There’s a Star Above the Manger Tonight. The remastered double vinyl reissue is out on November 11 via Jealous Butcher. It comes packaged with bonus tracks, including “Tin Hands and Lazy Motors” (above). The album also comes with updated artwork from Tortoise drummer John Herndon. 

Star Above the Manger was self-produced at BJ’s Truck Stop in the South Side of Chicago, where the band also worked washing out meat trucks. Tim Rutili talked about the experience in a statement:

“A lot of times I remember being in that back room working on music, and when that bell rang we’d run out and work on a truck. We were covered in blood at that job. There was always blood. The dirtiness of the place definitely seeped into the music. That’s the dirtiest record we ever made.”

Red Red Meat’s Bunny Gets Paid is due out on March 24, Jimmywine Majestic is out August 18, and their self-titled debut is out one year from today, October 13. The same day they release Red Red Meat, they’ll release an ultra-limited hand bound book featuring their entire discography on eight LPs.

They’re also teaming with Screwball Press for a collection of posters. Archival posters, photos, and art from the band’s original run will also be made available. The original painting of Herndon’s art will be available to purchase along with exclusive colored vinyl. All of these things will be made available via PledgeMusic.
