Riot Fest Vendor Names Meat-Filled Sandwich After Morrissey

During a two-hour block surrounding Morrissey’s performance at Riot Fest in Chicago, food vendors stopped cooking and selling meat out of “respect to Morrissey and his animal rights activism.” Apparently, this decision was not supported by all the vendors. The owners of Chicago vendors Puffs of Doom told DNAinfo Chicago that the singer’s management “bullied” the food vendors in an effort to halt the sale of meat. In response to Morrissey and his team, Puffs of Doom has added a sandwich to the menu. It’s called the “Pork Morrissey,” and it is most certainly not vegan.

It’s a grilled cheese sandwich filled with three types of cheese, bacon ranch macaroni and cheese, bourbon BBQ pulled pork, and it’s topped with pimento cheese. The sandwich will be available at the vendor’s upcoming events. It looks like this.

Puffs of Doom co-owner Luke Petillon said in an interview: “It bullied these little businesses that are already having a hard time hacking it. What it doesn’t do is actually change anything.” He clarified that he takes no issue with Morrissey’s veganism or animal rights activism, but is protesting “the way he tried to push his views down the public’s throats.” Read the full article.
