Robyn Discusses Loss, Performs La Bagatelle Magique’s "Lose Control" for Yours Truly

Earlier this year, Robyn released Love Is Free, a mini-album that was a collaboration with keyboardist Markus Jägerstedt and the late producer Christian Falk under the name La Bagatelle Magique. A new short Yours Truly documentary features Robyn and Jägerstedt discussing the creation of Love Is Free, working with Falk at the end of his life, and performing “Lose Control”. Watch it below.

In an accompanying interview, Robyn went in-depth on the struggle of continuing the project without Falk. (Recently, La Bagatelle Magique canceled shows due to the emotional difficulty of playing the music.) “Losing him — there’s nothing good about it,” she said. “Sometimes you really want to find reasons. You want to say that there’s a reason for everything. I don’t think that there’s any reason at all in the world why — when someone gets sick like that and they go through so much pain, and everyone around them goes through so much pain.” 

She also said La Bagatelle Magique was formed out of her desire to be in a band, which ended up being a temporary feeling. “Now that I’ve been in a band, I know that it’s really difficult, and I don’t want to be in a band anymore,” she said. “But I’m happy I tried!”
