Sam Smith Says He Hasn't Listened to Radiohead's Spectre Theme, Appears to Throw Shade

On Christmas, Radiohead released “Spectre,” which they said was written as a prospective theme for the latest James Bond movie. One person who wasn’t a fan of the track: Sam Smith, who sang “Writing’s on the Wall,” which was the movie’s actual theme song. (It subsequently won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song.)

At a Golden Globes press conference, Smith was asked if he was surprised by Thom Yorke releasing the song on Christmas, as Variety points out (via NME). Smith appeared not to know (or had forgotten) who Thom Yorke is. “Thom Yorke?” he asked after hearing the question, before collaborator Jimmy Napes filled him in.

Then, he answered. “Yeah, I was a little bit surprised,” he said. Then he added, a little testily, “Not going to lie, a little bit surprised, but I haven’t listened to it personally because I did the Spectre theme song.”
