On September 23, a David Bowie-centric exhibit called “David Bowie Is” will open at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. Mayor Rahm Emanuel has declared that day “David Bowie Day” in Chicago, Consequence of Sound reports.

The proclamation says Bowie has “impacted and inspired millions of fans across the globe for more than 50 years” (with “risqué subject matters”). He’s also called an “undisputed global icon” with a career that has “bridged cultures and faiths while both transcending and fortifying the music, art, fashion & design, and theatrical canons.” Read the document below.

The exhibit is also being celebrated by several Bowie-themed events.
