Sigur Rós Announce New Norður og Niður Holiday Arts Festival

After sharing a mysterious teaser this past weekend, Sigur Rós have announced a new Icelandic arts event. It’s called “Norður og Niður” and it will take place in Reykjavík from December 26-31. According to a press release, “‘Norður og Niður’ means ‘go North and go down’, but translates more accurately as ‘everything’s going to hell.’” The six-day event will take over the Reykjavík arts venue Harpa with a slew of performances, art installations, and more. As part of the festivities, Sigur Rós are set to play four shows (December 27-30) at Harpa’s main hall, Eldborg, marking their first concerts in Iceland in five years. Watch a trailer for Norður og Niður below; scroll down for the poster.

Sigur Rós’ last album was 2013’s Kveikur. The band head back out on tour later this month. Find their latest itinerary here.
