Sigur Rós Collaborates With Tate Modern for Interactive Video Experience

Sigur Rós have shared an interactive video experience called “States of Matter,” in collaboration with London’s Tate Modern. It’s split into four “visual journeys”–plasma, air, solid, and liquid–that explore “the past, present and future of Tate Modern, the Bankside building that hosts it in London and its new extension.” Each visual is accompanied by a stem of original music composed by Orri Páll Dýrason and Georg Hólm. They explain, “With ‘States of Matter,’ we wanted to explore more experimental and textural options. Splitting the track means that each stem had to have its own subtleties, its own identity while being part of a cohesive piece.” Watch the “States of Matter” videos below. Enter the interactive experience–in which you can watch all the videos at once, controlling the volume, size, and duration of each–here.

Sigur Rós are currently on tour. Recently at Primavera Sound, they performed a new song, “Óveður.”
