Skrillex Responds to From First to Last Stolen Artwork Claim

Yesterday, Skrillex released his first song with former band From First to Last in a decade, “Make War.” It came with a cover artwork, created by designers Sus Boy and Jabbathekid, depicting a peach wrapped in barbed wire. Not long after the song dropped, San Francisco-based band Culture Abuse took to social media to point out the similarities between the “Make War” artwork and the artwork for their own 2016 album Peach. (Find a tweet comparing the two covers, as well as subsequent tweets from the band below.)

Now, Skrillex has responded with a statement posted to his Twitter account. “Just wanted to convey we were unaware of the band Culture Abuse’s cover art with a peach similar to ours for From First to Last that we released yesterday,” it reads. “It was a complete coincidence, and we would never disrespect or appropriate another artist’s work. Shoutout to Culture Abuse, and as a positive to come from this, hopefully people will go check out their music and show them some love.”

If you are the big tree
We are the small axe
Sharpened to cut you down
Ready to cut you down…
