Sky Ferreira Hits Back at "Bullying on the Internet"

Sky Ferreira Hits Back at "Bullying on the Internet"

Sky Ferreira is still putting together her sophomore effort Masochism, the follow-up to 2013′s Night Time, My Time. Last year, she claimed a new song and short film would arrive that summer, but scheduling conflicts and health issues delayed its release. “I refuse to put out something that isn’t honest,” she later said, explaining the wait. Last month, she gave another update, saying that the record will be out this summer. Still, that’s not soon enough for some, and she’s shot back at those who’ve criticized her process in a series of tweets. She says she’s been working on Masochism for a while, and it can’t be “delayed” because she never gave a firm release date. She added, “Bullying me on the Internet or whatever will not make the process faster.” See her tweets below.

In one of her tweets, Ferreira said, “I’ve been working on it and doing lots of other (creative) things.” Earlier this month she was cast in Edgar Wright’s upcoming film Baby Driver. It’s scheduled for a 2017 release, as is Jessica Manafort’s film Rosy, which Ferreira will be in, too.

I never gave a date on my album. Therefore there’s no “delay”. I’m working on it & have been since I was touring

Bullying me on the Internet or whatever will not make the process faster

I’ve said the same thing multiple times so I’m not going to go on a “rant” about it

— Sky Ferreira (@skyferreira) March 21, 2016

I’ve been working on it and doing lots of other (creative) things

— Sky Ferreira (@skyferreira) March 21, 2016

There isn’t a timeline on music or creativity in general

— Sky Ferreira (@skyferreira) March 21, 2016

I’d rather make & release the best/most honest thing possible instead of trying to race time…

— Sky Ferreira (@skyferreira) March 21, 2016

…or the Internet/short attention spans. “Momentum” or hype isn’t real (in terms of what I want to make/do in life). It’s short lived.

— Sky Ferreira (@skyferreira) March 21, 2016

Quality over quantity.

— Sky Ferreira (@skyferreira) March 21, 2016

Anyways. I’m really excited for it.

— Sky Ferreira (@skyferreira) March 21, 2016

I kinda can’t stand the words “rant” & “delay” ’cause anytime I talk about my album they tend to get used the most when neither exist rn lol

— Sky Ferreira (@skyferreira) March 21, 2016

They both mean something negative but only positive things have been happening when it comes to making this album so STOP USING IT
