Sony Demos "Ears-Free" Headphones

At SXSW, Sony has revealed a prototype called Concept N. It’s a set of headphones, but instead of covering the ears, it’s a band that rests around the neck and directs sound up toward the ears. Find footage of a demo below via PC Mag.

The device, which allows users to listen to audio without blocking out sounds from the outside world, is voice-controlled and features a camera in the neckband. As The Verge points out, Concept N also comes with an optional set of ear pieces. There are holes punched through them so you can still hear ambient noise.
