Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell Remembered by Wife Vicky in Open Letter

Vicky Cornell has written a letter to her late husband Chris Cornell, who died last week at the age of 52. In the letter, posted by Billboard, Vicky begins, “To My Sweet Christopher, You were the best father, husband and son-in-law. Your patience, empathy and love always showed through.” She continues, “We had the time of our lives in the last decade and I’m sorry, my sweet love, that I did not see what happened to you that night. I’m sorry you were alone, and I know that was not you, my sweet Christopher. Your children know that too, so you can rest in peace.” Read the full letter here.

Tributes to Cornell have continued since his May 17 passing. Norah Jones covered Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun” at the Detroit Fox Theatre, where Cornell played his final show. Others who have played Cornell’s music include Ryan Adams, Slipknot’s Corey Taylor, and Heart’s Ann Wilson. Tom Morello, who was in Audioslave with Cornell, wrote a poem in his memory.
