Scottish indie pop pioneers the Vaselinesbest known for being covered by Nirvana on Incesticide and MTV Unplugged in New York, release their new album V for Vaselines October 7 in North America on Rosary Music. The follow-up to 2010′s Sex With an X and was self-produced by the band at Mogwai’s studio, Castle of Doom. V for Vaselines features contributions from a number of fellow Glasgow-based indie artists, including Stevie Jackson (Belle & Sebastian), Frank Macdonald (Teenage Fanclub), Michael McGaughrin (1990s), Graeme Smillie (Olympic Swimmers), Paul Foley (Mandrake Shepherd), and Scott Paterson (Sons & Daughters).

Vatican Shadow, aka Dominick Fernow of Prurient, has joined forced with Function for a new collaborative LP called Games Have Rulesout September 29 via Fernow’s Hospital Productions.The record attempts to “deconstruct the ever-changing, looming presence of New York City skyline.” Listen here until September 29.
