Sufjan Original Age of Adz Drawing Up for Sale

For his 2010 record The Age of Adz, Sufjan Stevens was inspired by the late artist Prophet Royal Robertson. The cover artwork, in particular, incorporated one of Robertson’s drawings. Next week, New York City’s Shrine gallery will exhibit Robertson’s work at the 2017 Outsider Art Fair. Among the pieces will be the drawing used for Adz; it’s on display publicly for the first time, and will be available to purchase via online auction. Other work includes Robertson’s hand-painted signs. The exhibition takes place at the Metropolitan Pavilion from January 19-22. See Robertson’s Adz-inspiring drawing below.

In other Sufjan news, he’s been added to the lineup for the 2017 Tibet House Benefit Concert, as BrooklynVegan points out. The March 16 Carnegie Hall event celebrates Tibet House’s 30th anniversary, as well as Philip Glass’ 80th birthday. Glass is also set to perform, as are Iggy Pop, Patti Smith (and her band), Laurie Anderson, New Order members Bernard Sumner, Phil Cunningham, and Tom Chapman, and more.
