At last night’s Grammy Awards, Beyoncé’s Lemonade lost Album of the Year to Adele’s 25, but won Best Contemporary Urban Album. Sufjan Stevens has now joined a growing list of artists (including Adele herself) outraged by the Grammys’ decision. “Friendly reminder: don’t be racist,” he wrote on his website, before posing the following dialogue:
Q: WTF is “Urban Contemporary”?
A: It’s where the white man puts the incomparable pregnant black woman because he is so threatened by her talent, power, persuasion and potential.
St. Vincent echoed his sentiment:

Sufjan has been very active on his blog lately, writing impassioned posts about the Ten Commandments, refugees, and the concept of a “Christian Nation”—the latter of which was later published as an op-ed in the Washington Post.
