Swet Shop Boys Call Out Katy Perry Over “Swish Swish”

Swet Shop Boys performed at Primavera Sound’s Pitchfork stage earlier today. During their set, they paused their performance of “Swish Swish”—a song that appeared on their 2016 album Cashmere—to address Katy Perry. The pop star recently released her Nicki Minaj collaboration, which is also called “Swish Swish” and is set to appear on her upcoming album Witness. “Just so we’re clear, I made that shit, like, years ago before that Katy Perry thing,” Heems told the crowd. “‘Swish Swish, bitch?’ That’s the Boys.” (The chorus of Perry and Minaj’s song features the words “swish swish bish.”)

Riz MC added, “We did that tune way before the Nicki Minaj/Katy Perry tune. It’s important that you understand that.” Heems continued, “I was like ‘Yo, I already did that. Y’all gotta read the internet. Where the fuck is your A&R at?’” With his arm around Heems, Riz asked the crowd, “Do you understand that? He was upset about that.” Watch it happen below at the 25:50 mark.
