The Arcs Release "Making a Murderer"-Inspired Song "Lake Superior"

The Black Keys‘ Dan Auerbach‘s band The Arcs have shared “Lake Superior,” a new song inspired by Netflix’s “Making a Murderer” documentary series. You can listen to it above. All proceeds will benefit the Innocence Project, a nonprofit focused on exonerating wrongly convincted people.

“Making a Murderer” tells the story of Steven Avery, who was exonerated on charges of sexual assault and attempted murder, only to be convicted for murdering a different person. The band shared a statement on how the show motivated the song:

It’s like Billy Childish says, “We live in troubled times”. Last week, we got a sneak peek at what goes on behind the curtains of our criminal justice system. A few sleepless nights later we gathered in the studio and wrote this song.
