The Black Keys' Patrick Carney Throws First Pitch at Cleveland Indians' Opening Day

Today, Black Keys drummer and Ohio native Patrick Carney threw out the first pitch at the Cleveland Indians game on Opening Day at Progressive Field. (The Indians ultimately lost to the Boston Red Sox.) Watch the pitch below. “I was nervous,” Carney told the Akron Beacon Journal before noting that he’d been practicing his throw after healing from a shoulder injury. “I am just happy that I kept the ball in the air,” he added. “It wasn’t over the plate, but it was in the air. It didn’t bounce. Yesterday before the game got canceled, Sandy Alomar told me just not to get the ball into the dirt.”

In another interview with MLB.com he opened up about getting back into baseball: “I’ve been more into sports now than I [have been] since probably middle school. It’s fun. It’s hard for me to follow stuff when we’ve been on tour, but now with all the apps and the MLB package, and things like that, it makes it much easier.”
