The Flaming Lips, who are currently on tour behind their latest album Oczy Mlody, have a very special treat for fans who visit their merch table. Today on Instagram, Wayne Coyne shared a photo of a somewhat horrifying, fetus-shaped bar of soap that will be available at tonight’s show at the Ritz in Raleigh, North Carolina. It’s called the “Everyone You Know, Someday, Will Die.. Soap and Soap Dish,” based on a lyric from the band’s 2002 song “Do You Realize??.” According to Coyne, the soap is “hand made with Shea Butter and Goats Milk with Honeysuckle and Fruit Loops scents.” It’s packaged with a book by Robert Arthur about “modern taboo subjects like having orgies and taking drugs,” as well as new artwork by Coyne. He concludes the post, “Cool stuff!! Hope y’all like it!!.” Coyne has been at work on the soap since at least November 2016 when he shared an update on its progress. Check out the finished product below, and find their upcoming tour schedule here.
On Record Store Day (April 22), the Lips will release a new “live(ish)” album (via Warner Bros.). It’s called Onboard the International Space Station Concert for Peace, and features Oczy Mlody tracks “reimagined as a fictional/fantastical live Flaming Lips performance on the International Space Station.”
