The Joy Formidable Announce New LP Hitch, Share Butt-Filled “The Last Thing on My Mind” Video
The Joy Formidable last released Wolf’s Law in 2013. Today, they’ve announced its follow-up, Hitch, which is out March 25 via their own label C’Mon Lets Drift (via Caroline in the United States, the Orchard/Membran in Europe, and MapleMusic in Canada). They’ve also shared the video for first single “The Last Thing on My Mind.” It features lots of men dancing and shaking their butts. (There is plenty of blurred-out nudity.) Watch it and see what frontwoman Rhiannon “Ritzy” Bryan had to say about the video below.
It’s a song about freedom, about feeling alive & a part of that is about sexual liberation too, which is why we wanted to make a music video from the perspective of a heterosexual female gaze. It shows men in many forms, being free, being sexy, being watched, it’s beautiful and provocative and is some small attempt to re-address the existing imbalance of perspective and nudity in music videos.
