The Mountain Goats have announced a new tour, which kicks off with a series of solo shows featuring John Darnielle. Check out the full itinerary below.

In a note posted to his Tumblr, Darnielle described the tour as more stripped-down. “Smaller rooms, audible frequencies, up close and personal: this is the general plan,” he wrote. “Making eye contact with people in the back row, being able to go off-mic when I want to and still be heard. Total visibility.”

Below, you can watch a video of the band doing “The Ballad of Bull Ramos” at a show from earlier this year, where they performed in the more low-key format.
