The Mountain Goats' John Darnielle's Novel Nominated for National Book Award

Yesterday, the Mountain Goats‘ John Darnielle released his debut novel Wolf in White Van. (That’s the first 10 minutes of the audiobook above.) Now, you’ve got another reason to pick it up: It has been nominated for the 2014 National Book Award for fiction, The New York Times reports.

The book made the long list, which includes 10 fiction nominees. The five finalists will be announced on October 15. The winner will be recognized at a gala on November 19, which will be hosted by Daniel Handler (aka Lemony Snicket). Find the long list of nominees for all categories (fiction, nonfiction, poetry, young people’s literature) here.
