In 2013, the National staged a “durational performance” with Icelandic artist Ragnar Kjartansson, where they performed the song “Sorrow” from 2010′s High Violet for six hours straight as part of MoMA PS1′s Sunday Sessions. Now, the band has announced a limited edition 9xLP vinyl box set collecting the performance, titled A Lot of Sorrow. It’s out June 22 via 4AD.
All proceeds from the box set will be donated to non-profit health care organization Partners In Health. Pre-orders are currently available through the project’s website.
