The Roots Picnic 2017: Pharrell, Solange, Lil Wayne, More

The Roots have announced the lineup for their 10th annual Roots Picnic festival in their hometown of Philadelphia. Pharrell and the Roots (a “joint headline set”), Solange, Lil Wayne, Thundercat, and 21 Savage are all set to perform, in addition to Pete Rock, Noname, and a “live mixtape” presentation from the Roots’ Black Thought with J Period featuring Fat Joe, Mobb Deep, and Scott Storch. Check out the full lineup below. The Roots Picnic takes place June 3 at Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing.

Last year, the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia featured performances from Usher (backed by the Roots), Blood Orange, Migos, Anderson .Paak, Future, and more. The lineup was announced with a video featuring “Broad City”’s Abbi and Ilana. The band also held their first inaugural Roots Picnic NYC last year, which featured performances by David Byrne, Wu-Tang Clan, Nile Rodgers, and more. At the festival, D’Angelo, John Mayer, and the Roots performed together. The Roots recently premiered their NBA-themed musical “The Evolution of Greatness” (featuring Hamilton actor Daveed Diggs, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Jidenna, and more) before the NBA All-Star Game.
