The Weeknd’s Starboy Hits No. 1 on Billboard 200

The Weeknd’s new album Starboy has hit the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart, as Billboard reports. The album sold 348,000 in equivalent album units, making it the third-largest debut of the year behind Drake’s VIEWS and Beyoncé’s Lemonade. 231,000 of those were in traditional sales, while 117,000 units came from streaming. It was recently reported Starboy broke Spotify’s record for most streams in a single day (a record previously held by Justin Bieber).

The Weeknd recently released a new short film, Mania, and announced his Starboy: Legend of the Fall 2017 World Tour, which kicks off in February of next year in Europe and includes dates in North America. In a recent interview, the singer also revealed that the title of Starboy was chosen as an homage to the late David Bowie’s song “Starman.” The Weeknd’s last album, 2015’s Beauty Behind the Madness, also topped the chart upon its release.
