In 2013, Thom Yorke and his Atoms for Peace collaborator Nigel Godrich removed Amok and The Eraser from Spotify in protest of the company’s business model. This led the two men to debate back and forth with Spotify CEO Daniel Ek.

As Consequence of Sound points out, Yorke’s albums (including his new one, Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes) and Amok are available to stream on Apple Music. So is In Rainbowsthe only one of Radiohead‘s albums that isn’t available on Spotify.

In a 2013 interview with Sopitas (via CoS), Yorke said:

“I feel like as musicians we need to fight the Spotify thing. We don’t need you to do it. No artists need you to do it. We can build the shit ourselves, so fuck off. … To me this isn’t the mainstream, this is is like the last fart, the last desperate fart of a dying corpse. What happens next is the important part.”

What happened next was that he released Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes via BitTorrent

Here’s the video for Atoms for Peace’s Amok track “Ingenue”:
