Thursday Reunite

Thursday Reunite

The influential post-hardcore band Thursday are back in action after a five-year hiatus. They’ll headline Atlanta’s Wrecking Ball Festival, taking place August 12-14. It’s their first live performance since they split at the end of 2011. The lineup will consist of frontman Geoff Rickly, guitarists Tom Keeley and Steve Pedulla, bassist Tim Payne, drummer Tucker Rule, and keyboardist Andrew Everding. “Five years ago, we found it necessary to end Thursday for reasons beyond our control,” Rickly said in a statement. “Earlier this year, we were able to reconcile all of our differences and spend time together. This is a vital component to what we loved about being in Thursday and we’re happy to say that we’ll be playing this show as the same line-up that began touring together on Full Collapse and jointly worked on every record since.”

Thursday’s last album was 2011′s No Devolución. Since then, Rickly has stayed busy with his label, Collect Records, and various projects including United Nations and No Devotion. Thursday reissued their 1999 debut Waiting last year.

Other bands performing at Wrecking Ball Festival include Dinosaur Jr., L7, Drive Like Jehu, Deafheaven, American Football, the Julie Ruin, Quicksand, Gorilla Biscuits, American Nightmare, Rainer Maria, Cold Cave, and more. The band will donate a portion of proceeds from the festival to SisterSong, an Atlanta-based group dedicated to reproductive justice. “At our peak, Thursday were a band fiercely devoted to local music, community and compassion,” Rickly said in a statement. “We plan to use this occasion to renew our commitment to those ideas.”
