Titus Andronicus Announce New Album The Most Lamentable Tragedy, Share “Dimed Out” Lyric Video

Titus Andronicus have announced a new studio album, their first since 2012′s Local Business. It’s called The Most Lamentable Tragedy, which theatre buffs will recognize as another Shakespeare reference. That’s the cover art above, which was done by Nolen Strals. They’ve also shared the lyric video for a new song called “Dimed Out”. Watch it below. 

The Most Lamentable Tragedy will be out July 28 via Merge as a 2xCD and 3xLP. It was produced by Kevin McMahon and lead guitarist Adam Reich, and features Owen Pallett on violin. In an interview with Grantland, Patrick Stickles said the album comprises 29 tracks over 93 minutes. The album also features covers of Daniel Johnston’s “I Had Lost My Mind” and the Pogues’ “A Pair of Brown Eyes”. Check out the full tracklist below.

A press released detailed the album’s narrative:

The central narrative of TMLT (“a work of fiction,” claims singer/songwriter Patrick Stickles) concerns an unnamed protagonist whom we meet in deep despair. Following an encounter with his own doppelgänger (an enigmatic stranger, identical in appearance though opposite in disposition), long held secrets are revealed, sending our protagonist on a transformative odyssey, through past lives and new loves, to the shocking revelation that the very thing that sustains him may be the thing to destroy him.

The band will also play a string of album release shows at Brooklyn’s Shea Stadium, which take place July 24-28.
