Troy Ave Shot in Leg at T.I. Concert

Troy Ave, real name Rolan Collins, was among four people injured in a fatal shooting at T.I.‘s Irving Plaza concert in New York last night, ABC7 New York reports. He was the first victim shot. He was hit in the leg and is expected to recover, according to ABC7 New York. The shooting took place in the venue’s green room shortly before T.I. was due on stage, sending crowds streaming from the venue, the New York Times reports. Maino and Uncle Murda were on stage at the time of the shooting. The New York City Police Department is investigating whether a dispute between crews linked to Maino and Troy Ave is connected, according to ABC7 New York. It’s unclear how many shots were fired or how the gun made it into the venue, which had metal detectors installed, the Times reports. Update (12:00 p.m.)The New York Times’ Joe Coscarelli reports that the NYPD have said, “T.I. does not appear to be involved with this in any way.” They also confirm that Troy Ave was shot in the leg. See his tweet below (via The Fader). Update (1:15 p.m.): The man who died from the shooting was Ronald McPhatter, 33, who was Troy Ave’s bodyguard and went by the name Banga, Billboard reports, citing multiple sources.

As of late last night, police were yet to ascertain a motive or arrest the shooter, according to the Times.
