Trump Supporter on CNN Blasts Jay Z/Kanye Video for Featuring “Mazel Tov Cocktails”

This past weekend, Jay Z performed at a Hillary Clinton Get Out the Vote event in Cleveland, Ohio. Donald Trump later attacked Jay Z over his use of “bad language” at the event; he criticized Clinton, too. Now, Scottie Nell Hughes–a Trump supporter and CNN political contributor–has continued calling out Jay Z. In an interview, she decried Jay, Kanye West, and Frank Ocean’s “anti-police” music video for “No Church in the Wild” (from Watch the Throne). “One of his main videos starts off with a crowd throwing mazel tov cocktails at the police,” Hughes said. Although Hughes corrected her “Molotov” pronunciation on Twitter, her slip-up does call back to Jay’s “Black Bar Mitzvahs/Mazel Tov” line on 2007’s “Roc Boys.” Watch a clip of Hughes’ Jay Z criticism below. Last month, another Trump supporter–Betsy McCaughey, a former Lieutenant Governor of New York–criticized Beyoncé’s lyrics on CNN. She called out Clinton for enjoying “Formation,” and quoted the song on air. Like her husband, Bey is a Clinton supporter, who also campaigned for the Democratic presidential candidate in Ohio.
