Tupac Restaurant Coming to New York

Tupac Restaurant Coming to New York

Powamekka Café, the restaurant that the late Tupac Shakur envisioned on paper, is headed to New York City. The Nas-backed Southern restaurant Sweet Chick (178 Ludlow St.) will house the concept restaurant this weekend from April 7-9. The pop-up event is a collaboration with Tupac’s estate. The menu will reflect some of Tupac’s favorites, including gumbo, meatloaf, his cousin Jamala’s fried chicken wings, and more. Beyond dishes, Powamekka Café will pay homage to Tupac with a collection of his childhood photos, poetry, and other memorabilia from across his career. Limited edition merchandise will also be available. Make a reservation here. Last year, the Fresno, California restaurant Take-3 Burgers opened a one-night-only pop-up based on Tupac’s Powamekka Café notes and sketches.
