Vampire Weekend's Ezra Koenig and Haim's Alana Haim Recap 2015 on Ezra's Radio Show

On the latest installment of “Time Crisis”—the Beats 1 show helmed by Ezra Koenig—the Vampire Weekend frontman welcomed Alana Haim (who recently got her own Beats 1 show with her sisters, “Haim Time”). The show also featured Koenig’s sister Emma, Jake Longstreth (brother of Dirty Projectors’ Dave Longstreth), and comedian Jerrod Carmichael. Listen to it here.

Haim and Koenig talked about how they bonded over their mutual love of Rebecca Black’s “Friday”, comparing that song’s release to the Beatles breaking in America. Then, Haim discussed her favorite songs of the year, which were by Grimes, Kanye West, and Brandon Flowers.

Later, they discussed the Grammy nominees for Song of the Year: Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift, Wiz Khalifa, Ed Sheeran, and Little Big Town. They also talked about Barack Obama’s favorite Kendrick song, Bernie Sanders’ Killer Mike affiliation, and whether or not any Republican candidates enjoy rap music. There’s also an argument about Ed Sheeran and a dissection of NBC’s “The Wiz Live!”. And at one point, Ezra does a really solid Dave Longstreth impression.
