Vine Dies on January 17

Near the end of 2016, Twitter announced plans to shut down the Vine app. The company has now announced that the six-second looping video service app will be officially discontinued on January 17. The Vine Camera app will be rolled out in its place—a similar service that allows users to make 6.5-second looping videos that can be saved or posted to Twitter. Vine’s native social community will be eliminated. Users have until January 17 to download their Vines. After that point, every video will be archived and viewable on Vine’s website.
