Watch Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon Perform at His High School Band’s 1999 Album Release Party

Before his reinvention as Bon Iver, Justin Vernon released music under several aliases, including JD Vernon, his mid-2000s band DeYarmond Edison, and, in high school, Mount Vernon. In 1999, the band celebrated the release of their debut record, We Can Look Up, with a show at Eau Claire, WI’s Westgate Sportsman Club. Today, thanks to YouTube user Mike Olson, who previously shared the band’s performance at a 1998 battle of the bands, that release show is yours to enjoy.
