Watch Can Members Reunite Alongside Thurston Moore, My Bloody Valentine’s Deb Googe, More

Last night, members of Can reunited as “The Can Project” for a special concert at Barbican Hall in London. The show commemorated the band’s 50th anniversary. Founding member Irmin Schmidt was joined by the band’s first singer, Malcolm Mooney, along with the London Symphony Orchestra, Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore and Steve Shelley, My Bloody Valentine’s Deb Googe, and more. Watch footage below. The performance featured new orchestral works, performed with the LSO, and a supergroup that included Moore and Shelley. Founding drummer Jaki Liebezeit was scheduled to appear before his death in January.

Recently, Can announced a new compilation called Can — The Singles, a collection of the band’s single releases. It’s out June 16 via Mute/Spoon. Along with the new compilation, they will publish their first authorize biography called All Gates Open, which is due out Spring 2018 (via Faber & Faber).
