Watch Deftones’ Chino Moreno Perform Inside a Volcano

Deftones returned earlier this year with their new album Gore. This past weekend, they performed at Iceland’s Secret Solstice festival. But in addition to the full-band show, frontman Chino Moreno played a special three-song acoustic set…inside a volcano. The festival billed it as “the world’s first public gig inside a volcano.” (Icelandic singer-songwriter Snorri Helgason opened.)

Twenty people paid 250,000 Icelandic krona (approximately $1970) to attend, the BBC reports. They had to walk two-and-a-half miles (or take a helicopter flight), then take a six-minute elevator ride down about 400 feet into the shaft of the Thrihnukagigur volcano to attend the gig.

According to the BBC, Moreno did a Morrissey song, Deftones’ White Pony track “Change (In the House of Flies),” and a song from David Bowie’s Blackstar. Watch him play “Change” below and watch a BBC report about the concert here.
