Watch My Morning Jacket’s Jim James’ Strange New Children’s Story

My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James is among the many artists who contributed to Waxploitation’s new book project Stories for Ways and Means. His story is called “Oslo and Plum,” and he has now shared its visual accompaniment–narrated by Phil LaMarr and illustrated by Jacob Escobedo. It centers on Oslo the Duck, who loses his dear friend Plum the Cat while they visit Ice Cream Mountain. Watch it below.

Stories for Ways and Means is a 350-page-plus book that has been 10 years in the making. It features 30 total storywriters, including Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, Tom Waits, and Kathleen Hanna. Future short film accompaniments will feature guest narration from Danny DeVito, Joey Bada$$, King Krule, Lizzo, Zach Galifianakis, and more. Proceeds from Stories for Ways and Means go to Room to ReadPencils of Promise, and 826.
