Watch Solange Cover Syreeta’s “Black Maybe” In Response to Recent Police Shootings

Solange has posted a cover of Syreeta‘s “Black Maybe” on her Instagram. The song, written by Stevie Wonder, is from Wright’s 1972 self-titled debut album. Solange posted the short cover in response to recent shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, black men who were killed by police in separate incidents this week. In a note attached to the video, Solange wrote: “Been singing Syreeta’s ‘Black Maybe’ over and over again trying to comfort my weary heart… But what is comfort when the images of slain black bodies left to bleed, is sketched into your being…over and over again.” Watch the cover below.
