Wavves and His Brother Made a Video Game About Punching Richard Spencer

Wavves’ Nathan Williams makes music with his brother Joel under the moniker Sweet Valley. The duo also make video games, apparently. Recently, they shared “Kill the Alt-Reich,” a point-and-click Whac-a-Mole video game for Windows and Mac that allows players to punch alt-right proponent and white nationalist Richard Spencer. Download it for free here, and check out gameplay footage below. (Warning: it’s pretty graphic.)

A label manager of Ghost Ramp clarified to Pitchfork that the game was Nathan’s idea, which Joel executed: “This was Nathan’s idea and Joel, his younger brother, made the game! Joel has been working on lots of video game content, and this was originally something he built just learning, and Nathan had the idea of adding in Spencer instead of a traditional sort of Whac-A-Mole.”

After Richard Spencer got punched in the face on Inauguration Day, Tim Heidecker recorded a song about it; all proceeds from the track (available here) go to the NAACP. Killer Mike has said it’s OK to “fuck up” Spencer.
