While Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo prepares to release a new album, he’s also about to be in the public eye in a very different way: He’s the subject of a new TV comedy from Fox called “DeTour”, according to The Hollywood Reporter (via Billboard). Update: Rivers has clarified that the project is still in the early stages.

I think someone from FOX jumped the gun w/their press release. From what I understand, a “put pilot” means they *might* make a pilot.

Pretty much every show makes a pilot before it goes on the air. Only 1 in 100 goes on 2 become a regular show.

The series was pitched by “Psych” creator Steve Franks, who will write the script. It follows “a 30-something rock star” who walks away from music and fame in order to go back to college. Cuomo actually did this—he attended Harvard and lived in the dorms.

Everything Will Be Alright in the End is out October 7.
