Wolf Parade Play First Concert in Five Years: Watch

Wolf Parade are set to play their first shows in five years next week at New York City’s Bowery Ballroom. It appears that the band has returned to the stage several days earlier than expected: Last night, Wolf Parade played a surprise show as “Del Scorcho” at The Queens in Nanaimo, British Columbia, as reader Duncan Gidney points out. A description for the event on Facebook gave some obvious hints regarding the secret set. It reads: “Everyone’s pals DEL SCORCHO (parading around like wolves) (yes, you read that correctly) are back in action and heading off to challenge the world, but first, a super secret (shh!) warm up show at The Queens for the Vancouver Island faithful.” The set included the band’s new material. Watch footage of the band’s performance below.

Wolf Parade have a lot in store besides their comeback shows. Tomorrow, they’ll drop a deluxe reissue of their debut album Apologies to the Queen Mary. Four days later, they’ll release EP4. On May 20, they’ll appear on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” to perform material from the new EP.
