Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) Jokes About Kanye, Drake, Meek Mill at Montreal Stand-Up Set

Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def) is no stranger to comedy—he made a few memorable appearances on “Chappelle’s Show”, for example. Last night, he did a standup show called “Happy Birthday! Shut Up.” at the Phi Centre in Montreal, accompanied by Kaytranada. According to Cult MTL, Bey talked about Kanye West, the Drake/Meek Mill beef, Caitlyn Jenner, and more. Below, you can watch a couple of short clips, including him joking about Kanye interacting with the paparazzi. Update (8/6 05:14 a.m.): Below, watch the segment on Drake and Meek, in which Bey sympathizes with Nicki Minaj: “She’s a better rapper than both of them dudes.”

According to Cult MTL, Bey remarked about Drake and Meek Mill: “The male ego is a boring place.” He also talked about Kanye throwing away his busted mic at the Pan American Games in Toronto (“I was talking to El-P from Run the Jewels the other day and he said it turned into a bird”) and speculated about Wiz Khalifa and Caitlyn Jenner going on a date.

“My dream had been to do stand-up comedy, and I’m sitting down,” he said, referring to the fact that he was sitting on a stool. “Don’t I look like I’m living my dream? I’m here living my dream, and I look like Tyler on the cover of that album.”
