Young Thug’s New No, My Name Is JEFFERY Mixtape Has Songs for Harambe and Rihanna, and an Incredible Cover: Listen

In recent weeks, there was serious speculation that Young Thug was on the verge of changing his name to “No, My Name Is Jeffery.” First, Lyor Cohen—founder of 300 Entertainment, to which Thug is signed—fanned the flames when he said that the rapper, whose legal name is Jeffery Lamar Williams, would take on the pseudonym. Then, Thug released a new song called “JOHN,” credited to “JEFFERY.” Next, Thug shared a mixtape trailer, in which he looked tired and kept telling people, “No, my name is Jeffery.” That mixtape has now arrived, and Thug has not, in fact, changed his name; it’s just the title. Listen to No, My Name Is JEFFERY (out via 300/Atlantic), and check out the amazing cover artwork (shot by Garfield Larmond) below.

The JEFFERY tracklist is a bit different from the one Thug shared on his Instagram prior to release. On Instagram, he wrote, “I named the songs after all my idols…” It includes songs named for Wyclef Jean, Gucci Mane (“Guwop”), Rihanna (“RiRi”), and most amazingly, Harambe, (the gorilla who was shot and killed at the Cincinnati Zoo earlier this year). Thug’s original tracklist also had a song called “Kanye West.” On the mixtape, it is actually called “Pop Man,” which is just a renamed version of the previously shared “JOHN.” Also included on JEFFERY as a bonus track is his Travis Scott and Quavo collab “Pick Up the Phone.” “Pop Man” is now once again “Kanye West” in Apple Music.
