Zane Lowe Airs Final BBC Radio 1 Show

Zane Lowe Airs Final BBC Radio 1 Show

After over a decade as a DJ, Zane Lowe is leaving BBC Radio 1 to join Apple. Today, his final radio show aired. Listen to the full two-hour show here.

Lowe and his co-workers spent the program swapping stories and playing the records that moved them most from the past 12 years, such as Arctic Monkeys’ “I Bet You Look Good on the Dance Floor”, Arcade Fire’s “Keep the Car Running”, and Kendrick Lamar’s “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe”. Lowe sang along to the songs, too. (We feel you on “Mr. Brightside”, Zane!)

Lowe himself only picked the final song: Queens of the Stone Age’s “A Song for the Dead”, calling the band a “constant” of his time on the radio.

Lowe joined the BBC in 2002, and is credited with breaking many artists that would go on to have huge careers, in addition to interviewing some of music’s biggest names. Last week, he conducted an exhaustive interview with Kanye West. His role at Apple has yet to be clarified.
