Mac DeMarco’s last project—the mini-album Another One—arrived back in 2015. Last night, he indicated that something new may be on the way, as he posted on Instagram, “#that’s a #wrap. Just finished #Mixin the new #disc.” It’s not yet clear what “the new #disc” entails, but DeMarco has also recently posted (goofy) photos from the recording studio. See his posts below. Pitchfork reached out to Mac DeMarco’s representatives, who offered no comment.
In the same “#Mixin” post, DeMarco also paid tribute to actor/activist Carrie Fisher, who died at age 60 on December 27. He wrote, “RIP Carrie, I’ll never forget ya, god bless.” Fisher was best known for her role as Princess Leia in Star Wars, and DeMarco is an avid fan of the franchise. Last year, he reviewed The Force Awakens after seeing it three times. He also made a photo of Jar Jar Binks in a Santa hat the accompanying image for his 2015 “White Christmas” cover.
