LCD Soundsystem Say New Album Could Be Out in 6 Weeks

Last Friday, LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy announced at Sasquatch! festival that the group’s new album was finally finished. Today he’s spoken more about the record, which has been recorded, mixed, and mastered. “The lacquers are winging their way to the pressing plant,” Murphy writes in a Facebook post. He adds that he’s been “wrangling the fastest route between final mix and record release,” and that he thinks “it’ll be soon.” A release date six weeks from now—in mid-July—is the “very fastest,” he writes, admitting it’ll “likely be longer than that.” He also said it would be the final LP recorded at the original DFA studios. “I’ve been there nearly 20 years now, and i wasn’t a particularly young man when it opened, so there’s that.” See the post below.

The group recently released two new songs—“Call the Police” and American Dream”—and performed both on “SNL.” Following their Brooklyn residency, LCD Soundsystem will headline Pitchfork Music Festival 2017 with A Tribe Called Quest and Solange. The festival takes place in Chicago’s Union Park from July 14–16. Get tickets here.
