“Weird Al” Yankovic has been named the new bandleader and co-host of IFC’s TV series “Comedy Bang! Bang!” He will replace Kid Cudi, who served in the roles for the show’s fourth season. Prior to Cudi, Reggie Watts was the show’s co-host/bandleader for its first three seasons.

“Weird Al” has actually appeared as a guest four times on “Comedy Bang! Bang!”–once per season. Commenting on “Weird Al”‘s new role on the show, host Scott Aukerman said:

If you would have told me, when I was a teenager, listening and laughing along to Al’s In 3-D album, that one day I would partner up with him, I would have asked who you were and how you got in my room. Then I would have politely shown you the door. Because that’s how I was raised.

“Comedy Bang! Bang!” Season 5 will air later this spring. “Weird Al”‘s last album was 2014′s Mandatory Fun.
