Nicki Minaj Announces Title and Cast for Her ABC Family TV Show

In September, it was announced that ABC Family was developing a show based on Nicki Minaj‘s life. Today, the show’s cast was revealed, as Minaj pointed out on Instagram.

Ariana Neal (Fruitvale Station) will play the young Minaj. Whoopi Goldberg will guest star as Minaj’s neighbor, with Selita Ebanks, Wesley Jonathan, and McCarrie McCausland set to play members of Nicki’s Family. The show’s title has also been confirmed: “Nicki”.

On Instagram, Minaj wrote some high words of praise for Neal. “I literally cried watching her taped audition,” she said. “I demanded to meet her! Sat in a room with her teaching her how to rap by doing a beat on the table & forcing her to stay on beat!”

In addition to serving as the executive producer, Minaj will also appear in the show. On Instagram, she said she “literally hand picked” the main characters.
