Conor Oberst: Ruminations [Nonesuch]

Conor Oberst’s new album, Ruminations, was recorded in Omaha, his hometown, over a period of 48 hours. It’s his first solo record since Upside Down Mountain.

Johnny Jewel: Home OST [Italians Do It Better]

Home is a Belgian independent film directed by Fien Troch. Johnny Jewel scored the film, and the soundtrack features new and unreleased music from Jewel, Chromatics, as well as Jewel and Chromatics’ Nat Walker’s project Symmetry. Previously, Jewel scored Lost River–Ryan Gosling’s 2015 directorial debut–and Nicolas Winding Refn’s 2008 film Bronson.

Gucci Mane: WOPTOBER [Atlantic]

WOPTOBER is Gucci Mane’s second album and third project since his May release from prison. It follows the July LP Everybody Looking and August’s GucTiggy EP with Zaytoven. WOPTOBER features Rick Ross and Young Dolph.

Powell: Sport [XL]

Powell announced his debut album, Sport, via an email to a fan. The UK producer had shared his email address by plastering it on Billboards in London and New York. Read our review of Sport’s “Frankie,” and watch the video for “Jonny,” which has people smashing their heads into watermelons.

The Orb–the long-running electronic music group featuring Alex Paterson and Thomas Fehlmann—follow last year’s  Moonbuilding 2703 AD with Chill Out, World! Paterson described as a “protest album in reverse.”

Jamie Lidell: Building a Beginning [Jajulin]

Jamie Lidell’s Building a Beginning is his first LP in over three years. The follow-up to his self-titled album, it features DaRu Jones on drums, Pino Pallodino on bass, and multi-instrumentalist Pat Sansone, along with Kudisan Kai, Traci Brown Bailey, and Tiffany Smith. Justin Stanley and Ben Ash produced the album.

Swet Shop Boys: Cashmere [Customs]

Swet Shop Boys is a hip-hop group comprised of Heems (formerly of Das Racist), Riz MC (aka Riz Ahmed, a rapper and star of HBO’s “The Night Of”), and producer Redinho. Their new album, Cashmere, includes a song named after former One Direction star Zayn Malik. Read our review of the album’s “T5,” and watch its politically charged video.
