7 Albums Out Today You Should Listen to Now: Father John Misty, Arca, Future Islands, More

With so much good music being released all the time, it can be hard to determine what to listen to first. Every week, Pitchfork offers a run-down of significant new releases available on streaming services. This week’s batch includes albums and soundtracks from Father John Misty, Arca, Future Islands, the New Pornographers, Joey Bada$$, “The Man in the High Castle,” and Clark.

Father John Misty: Pure Comedy [Sub Pop/Bella Union]

Well, it’s finally here. Pure Comedy is Joshua Tillman’s third LP as Father John Misty, following 2015’s I Love You, Honeybear. Tillman has stayed quite busy in the three months since its announcement—to say the least. He’s put out some videos (like a short film and a silly unboxing clip), shared some songs (“Pure Comedy” and the excellent “Ballad of the Dying Man” to name a couple), written a lengthy essay, been on TV, and of course, given plenty of noteworthy interviews. Read Pitchfork’s feature, “Here Is the Scandalous Father John Misty Interview You’ve Been Waiting For,” and find FJM’s tour dates here.
