Adam Green Enlists Devendra Banhart, Macaulay Culkin, Natasha Lyonne for Aladdin Movie Remake
A few years ago, Adam Green of the Moldy Peaches raised money through Kickstarter to write and direct a remake of Aladdin. He recently debuted a trailer for the completed film, which will launch this spring. The cast includes Macaulay Culkin, Devendra Banhart, Natasha Lyonne, Har Mar Superstar, Alia Shawkat, and Zoe Kravitz. Watch it below.
Green also composed an original soundtrack for the movie, which he will tour behind this spring.
The whole movie was shot on papier-mache sets. According to a press release, the movie “revolves around Aladdin’s dysfunctional family, who live in an ordinary city ruled by a corrupt Sultan and explores themes of technology, government repression, greed and true-love.”
